Ondo Election: ROTIMI AKEREDOLU OF APC NOW THE GOVERNOR ELECT by Barrister Fred Latimore

There is joyful noise across Ondo State and in APC Political Family nationwide as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Rotimi Akeredolu grabbed a super win in a landslide votes of 244, 842, placing APC on top the political map as the biggest party in Africa.

It is now crystal clear that APC is the party to beat in subsequent elections and in 2017 LGAs election.

The victoies in Ondo and Edo came handy through hardwork, unity and super synergy by party leaders and faithfuls.

Delta APC must shun all known sentiments and face reality as we approach 2017 LGA election. The outcome of LGA election will substantially determine our outing in 2019.

Unity and total synergy is key in APC DELTA. No looking back. I humbly appeal to Olorogun Otega Emerhor and the Leaders Council to commence total reconciliation of all factions and get cracking as one united political family.

Prophet Jones Erue should honourably step aside with his EXCO for the sake of the much needed peace, unity and sense of belonging. Genuine love and absolute synergy must engulf all stakeholders in the North, Central and South Districts of Delta APC.

Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commenced strategic moves to reconcile all aggrieved parties within the PDP family particularly those perceived to be seen as top men of former Governor of the State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori popularly referred to as ODIDIGBORIGBO of Delta politics.

Sources close to Governor Okowa disclosed that the Governor is worried over the massive defection of PDP members to the All Progressives Congress (APC ), because of alleged neglect of core Ibori's men in Okowa's administration coupled with the fact that Local Government Councils elections will take place next year.

Political observers strongly believe that the LAGs elections will largely determine the outcome of the governorship election in 2019, which is why both the APC and PDP are now at each others throats.

In the light of the above, Chief Tom AMIOKU and Hon Sunny Akpodiogaga EMEYESE have been drafted into the State Capital Territory Development Agency as Chairman and member respectively, as one of the core strategies to capture Ethiope East and expand the "reach out" strategies for Ibori's political dynasty so as to reduce the wave of defection from PDP.

1. In my recent epistle to the Chairman of the Leaders Council and 2015 governorship candidate of the Delta State Chapter of the APC, His Excellency Olorogun Otega Emerhor, I did say that the State party EXCO should be dissolved and a caretaker committee inaugurated to reflect present bigger structure of our great party to further pacify stakeholders in Delta North, Central and South senatorial districts. My "Appeal" is still pending and it is hoped that the leadership will find better ways to address it.

I know for sure that those to be affected by exco dissolution, if implemented, may hate me for life but if they are lovers of our great party more than lovers of themselves, they must consider the unity and victory of our party more than personsl titles and positions. We can't afford to fail in 2017 and 2019 elections respectively.

My suggestion is not to get at any body in the APC Delta EXCO, rather it is based primarily on political exigencies and the need for APC to reposition for a landslide victory in future elections. It is time for us to commence extensive mass mobilisation of the people towards 2017 local government election by organizing small rallies across LGAs and one mega rally as agreed during the Abuja event where Chief Great Ogboru and Rt Hon Victor Ochei joined the APC Delta family.

2. The social media group of the APC also need to be well organised and United under the control and headship of a capable and experienced media professional who will from time to time liaise with the leadership and exco to prosecute party actions and programmes via the mass media. The way things are, the social media is uncoordinated, not centralized and not controlled by anybody. This must be looked into as a priority and also funded.

3. We regret the death of our former State Publicity Secretary but its time to get another active and experienced party faithful as our Publicity Secretary. Such individual must have cordial and extensive relationship with the Nigerian mass media so as to attract goodwill of the media for our great party, APC DELTA.

4. It's time for APC DELTA to consistently engage the PDP and expose in details its bad governance in the State as a tool for educating the gullible eligible voters who are daily feed with half truth, propaganda and misinformation about the S.M.A.R.T agenda of Okowa's administration. PDP is not receiving the hot fire of baptism as it truly deserves for failing Deltans and for not showing signs of repentance. The state debt profile is rising by the day without corresponding fair deal on good governance.

5. LGA Chairmen must be seen to actually carry out their functions so as to consistently grow membership in their localities. This can be achieved by working out targets and an award put in place to boost the moral of hardworking LGA Chairmen. The BEST APC LGA CHAIRMAN of the month can be worked out based on certain criteria. We must develop all kinds of positive strategies to win reasonable number of the LGAs in 2017 as this will send strong signals to APC NWC and PDP DELTA that we have commenced positive and practical process to TAKE OVER DELTA in a landslide victory come 2019.

6. We must as a matter of urgency find ways and means to come out of internal legal battles and reconcile all aggrieved parties to enhance our chances of winning both LGAs and the general elections in 2019. Any unresolved agitation between leaders and elders of our party in Delta APC must one way or the other affect our political outing in 2017 and 2019 as can be seen from the results of 2015 governorship elections which was largely affected by lack of unity and watertight synergy by party leaders, chieftains and other major stskehokders. Unity, as we know it, is STRENGTH. We must not fail in future elections.

7. The Chairman and members of the newly inaugurated LEADERS COUNCIL should consider the possibility of holding a JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE to outline some of the core objectives of the Council and make some powerful and decisive statements that would send strong signal to PDP and their political associates that APC Delta is totally committed to outdo them in a landslide victory both at the LGAs election in 2017 and in 2019 general elections.

Edo and Ondo states have shown that it is very possible for APC DELTA to win elections gallantly whether or not PDP has been the master elections rigger in the State from1999 till date. We can fix PDP in 2017 and 2019 if we take the right decisive steps now. We must not fail in future elections.

The above suggestions are doable and I humbly urge our party leaders particularly the Leaders Council to do the needful for the much anticipated elections victories in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

We must not fail in future elections.
Party interest is SUPERIOR.
