NDDC EDP, ENGR ADJOGBE SAMUEL URGES TRADITIONAL RULERS TO INFLUENCE SUSTAINABLE PEACE, SECURITY IN THE REGION

...AS HE COMMENDS PRESIDENT BUHARI'S DETERMINATION TO STAMP OUT CORRUPTION, FINANCIAL LEAKAGES.

Royal fathers in the Niger Delta region have been called upon to use their good offices to influence and facilitate peace, security and unity through regular interactions with stakeholders, community leaders and youths.

The Executive Director Projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr Adjogbe Samuel Ajenakevwe made the call while addressing some traditional rulers and Chiefs during his official courtesy call on the paramount ruler of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III at his royal palace.

He asserted that development can only be rapid and achieved in an atmosphere of peace, adding that youth restiveness and consistent massive vandalization of oil pipelines and facilities drastically slowed down the rate of socioeconomic reconstruction embarked upon in the Niger Delta and across the country by President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC national government.

Adjogbe who was recently honoured with two major professional awards by the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers assured the royal fathers that President Buhari will do the needful subject to availability of financial resources to embark on massive infrastructural development, tackle the vexed issue of environmental degradation, youth vocational training programmes, specialised skills aquisition both at home and abroad through various well articulated blueprints, socioeconomic transformation policies and other communities development projections.

Adjogbe further dislosed that both the Chairman, Managing Director and entire members of the new NDDC board have been working extra hours since assumption of office to ensure that all financial leakages are blocked so as to effectively key into President Buhari's prudent financial management policies and collective will power towards eradication of corruption and unscrupulous transactions in both public and private sectors of the nation's economy.

He said our youths are the leaders of tomorrow which is why both government at all levels, wealthy individuals and corporate organisations must set aside reasonable financial and other key resources to train, develop and equip them for quality leadership and positive participation in nation building.

The EDP urged the good people of Nigeria and royal fathers across the country to continue to pray fervently for Mr President, his cabinent and leaders in authority so that the APC national government will perform far and above the expectations of Nigerians in the delivery of substantial dividends of democracy, adding that in 2019, Nigerians will passionately appeal to President Buhari to continue till 2023.

Responding, His Royal Highness, Ojavoko Oharisi III, the Ovie of Ughelli expressed confidence in the character and professional expertise of Engr Adjogbe and offered him special royal blessings.

The royal father urged him to sustain the tempo of his respect for traditional institutions and promise to mobilize other traditional rulers to assist President Buhari and the federal government in peace building and security in the region.

The Ovie of Evwreni Kingdom, Erevweded The third, Oghenekevwe Kumane and other royal fathers were there.

Adjogbe was accompanied on the royal visit by his Special Assistant on Political Matters, Barrister Jaro Omovudu Egbo, SA Special Duties, Mr Sonni Afenogho among others.
