VP Yemi Osinbajo to grace Delta monarch's 100 years birthday ceremony

Nigeria's Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is among dignitaries to grace the 100 years birthday ceremony of the oldest monarch in Delta State, His Royal Majesty Ovie Richard Layegun Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro 1, Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta state.

The President-Gen. (PG) of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) worldwide. Mr Moses Taiga who disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday at a press briefing in Olomu said the state governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa and some of his counterparts in other states would attend the weeklong event.

He also said that some traditional rulers from the South-West, South-East, and some emirs in the North have indicated their interest to attend the event slated for Jan. 13 to Jan. 20, 2017.

Taiga who is also the PG of Olomu Kingdom said 50 notable Nigerians had been penciled down for chieftaincy titles.

He said, "The Vice President, Osinbajo, governor Okowa and some other governors will be at the grand reception of the event on Jan. 20th. The conferment of chieftaincy titles will last for three days between Jan. 13, 14 and 16th.

"There will be a novelty match between Warri Wolves FC and Delta Force FC on Jan. 18th at Otu Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South council area.”

Taiga also disclosed that there will also be a book launch on Jan. 19 and Foundation laying stone of the permanent Palace of Olomu in Otor-orere community.

The energetic monarch who is marking his 100 birthday is the Chairman of the Urhobo Traditional Council.

  1. May you live long our great king. You have truly shown that your reign as a king in Urhobo land is a different one entirely. The only king with a different, how many Urhobo Kings can boast of having only one wife? As if that one is not enough you are God Fearing, a born again for that matter, may God bless your new age Owhorode of Olomu
