Press Release: The Feb. 2017 Niger Delta Dialogue in Port Harcourt Nigeria

I was invited by HRM King Alfred Diete Spiff, the Chairman of the Niger Delta Dialogue to represent Imo State at the 5th Niger Delta Dialogue, which held yesterday at the Presidential hotel, Port Harcourt.

It was a wonderful opportunity for me to share development experiences from Imo State and the giant strides the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is making in developing the state and empowering the people.

As the Principal Officer to the Governor on Employment and Job Creation, I used the rare opportunity to showcase the achievements of my agency and to inform the development partners from the Governments of USA, UK, France, Netherlands, etc that the Imo State Government has laid the foundation for development, having created an enabling environment for peace and cooperation in the state.

I made them under that the recent disarmament of the ex-agitators from Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta LGAs of Imo State and the Amnesty granted them by the Governor is a demonstration of our readiness as a government to partner with any of the development agencies for the empowerment of people of these devastated communities.

In the coming months, the results of my participation in this high level dialogue, which had the Hon. Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, MD and Chairman of the NDDC, General Boro of the Presidential Amnesty Program, Members of the House of Representatives Amnesty Committee, King Diete Spiff, King Jaja of Opobo, representatives of PIND, etc in attendance will begin to show for the benefits of our people.

I thank His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for the opportunity given to me to serve the state in this capacity. I promise to do more until all Imo youths are empowered.

Imo Must Be Better!

Remy Chukwunyere,
Imo State Directorate for Employment and Job Center
