THE BUSINESS IN YOU DAILY: Massive Investment Opportunities in Processing Cassava into Livestock Feeds

Remy Chukwunyere writes from Imo State..

Dear #IYBlog Good morning and welcome to the Business in You Daily! I know I have been away for so long but it’s all for good.

Today, I will be sharing with you massive investment opportunities available in processing cassava into livestock feeds. For about a year or more now, the cost of production in the livestock sector, especially for poultry and fish farmers has risen astronomically. As expected, that also is the reason for the high costs of chicken and fish in the market. Have you wondered why it is so? The reason is because, maize constitutes the bulk source of livestock feed and the cost of maize has soared high.

As a result of this development in the sector, there is an urgent need for alternative sources of raw materials for feed production to enable farmers remain in business and to ensure food security in the country.

Research has revealed that cassava is undoubtedly the only readily available alternative that can replace maize in the production of livestock feed. Interestingly, cassava tubers, leaves and peels, all constitute essential raw materials in the feed industry.

Today, at the Investment Forum organized by our partners, the DFID MADE and other development partners in Owerri, Imo State, stakeholders in the production, processing, machine fabrication, business service providers, financing and donor institutions discussed intensively on how to stimulate investments for economic growth in this sector.

So, as I write now, we are looking for investors, who will be interested in the production or processing of cassava into livestock feeds. With our support, funding for investments in any of the various value chains is ready from the Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, Access Bank, Lapo Microfinance Bank, etc is ready.
