A group within the All Progressives Congress in Delta state, the Delta APC Professionals have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to disregard the questionable call recently made by the relatively unknown "APC Unity Group", for the use of a purported appointment list from Delta state APC for further appointments in favour of the Delta State APC.

The group made the call at the end of its emergency meeting on Thursday in Asaba, the State capital where various issues affecting the State chapter of the party including the continuous appointment of PDP members into Federal boards and parastatals were discussed.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its spokesperson, Bar. Dennis Nwanokwai said that despite the justifiable outcry that greeted the few appointments that had gone to non-APC members in the State, the acceptance of the questionable list submitted by the ousted State Party Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue through the South South National Vice Chairman, Hilliard Ntufam, should not even be considered as it contains names of prominent 'pre-Buhari victory PDP members' within the State as well as non-Deltans. He described the list as a major factor stoking the embers of discord within the party in Delta State as the Delta Central Senatorial District alone has more than double the number of the other two Senatorial Districts combined.

He noted that the list earlier submitted does not in anyway represent Delta APC as it was hijacked by just two members of the party and as expected, filled with names of their cronies as against the tenets of all inclusiveness in politics especially in a state like Delta where all hands must be on deck to be able to fight as a family and bring to an end the over 16 years misrule of the PDP.

According to him, "while majority of party loyalists are not happy with the appointments which favoured PDP members, we have come to realise that our no-nonsense President is not aware of the manipulative excesses of those saddled with the responsibility of submitting a generally accepted list, who have turned around and sold the slots to the highest bidders irrespective of their party affiliation."

The legal practitioner went further to question the capacity in which Hon. Solomon Edojah made the call for the President to rely on the ill-fated list stressing that it would amount to going against the principle of equity and fairness which he, Edoja and his cronies tried without success to portray in that news publication.

"How can Hon. Edojah, a staunch member of PDP and erstwhile Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kwara PDP just before the 2015 elections but defected to APC after the victory of President Buhari come out to speak for foundation members of Delta APC just because his name was one of those used to short-change the dedicated APC members that worked tirelessly for the victory of the party in 2015 general elections. Such statement credited to him is an insult on the sensibility of the founding and core members of APC as he is no different from Prof. Saliba Mukoro whom he is castigating for his appointment".

The group appealed to the President who is the number one leader of the party and the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun to play the fatherly role by discarding that list in contention and directing that all the stakeholders come together and draw up a new list which will be forwarded for prompt action in the spirit of equity and fairness which is one of the pillars on which President Buhari and APC are standing on - more so, as there is currently no elected State Executive Committee in Delta State.
