This is for those who have been asking why the peace process is not working.

APPEAL NO. CA/B/163/2015: PROPHET JONES ERUE & ANOR. V. CHIEF ADOLO OKOTIE EBOH & 2 ORS. (Filed by Prophet Jones) as well as APPEAL NO. CA/B/263/2015: APC V. PROPHET JONES ERUE & ORS. (Filed by APC) are still pending before the Court of Appeal, Benin City.

They have been adjourned to November 14, 2017 for hearing. Although the matters came up for hearing on March 14, 2017, no attempt was made to withdraw them as contemplated at the peace meeting of March 4, 2017 convened at the instance of the Hon. Minister, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. Adolo Okotie Eboh is only responding to the appeals filed by Prophet Jones and his erstwhile State Exco. Those who are therefore expecting Okotie-Eboh to 'withdraw' his suit are doing so in error as he has none pending.

Again, SUIT NO. FHC/WR/CS/165/15: PROPHET JONES ERUE & 2 ORS. V. APC & 3 ORS., filed at the Federal High Court, Warri is still pending and has been adjourned to October 10, 2017. The Elders and Leaders Committee have no pending suit against the party. It is therefore evident that both Prophet Jones and the NWC are bent on ensuring peace does not return to the party in Delta State. This delay tactics in the pending appeals are copiously outlined on page 3 (paragraphs 3 & 4) of the premeditated rejoinder submitted by the ousted Prophet Jones State Exco to the meeting of March 4, 2017.

The clear danger this reckless stand portends is the non-participation of the party in forthcoming (Warri South1) and subsequent LGA elections. This is so because any act done by the erstwhile Prophet Jones State Exco remains illegal being in violation of a subsisting judgment of the High Court of Justice, Asaba.

Interestingly, the Hon. Minister in his wisdom did voice concern about the pending appeals not ending in 2017. Even if the appeals are heard in November, 2017, the earliest date for judgment would be in February, 2018 - the party cannot afford that delay! The preoccupation of the party in Delta State now must be the unfettered nomination of suitable candidates for the aforementioned elections. As it stands, all must revert to status quo to salvage the party in Delta State; and save genuine aspirants on the party's platform enormous loss of campaign funds from disqualification after victory, owing to the recalcitrance of a defunct team of former party members! Yes, they have lost their membership too by reason of filing the suit in Warri against the party! Prophet Jones and his co-travellers have nothing to offer henceforth apart from rendering the party ineffective! The party must move on without them! There'll always be room for them PROVIDED they purge themselves of the non-progressive elements they have unrestrainedly displayed hitherto!
