Its a one way traffic in Essien Udim ...as all chairmanship aspirants submit to Isobara

By Godwin Akpan

Few days after the youth caucus of Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, led by Barr. Prince Ukpong Akpabio, turned out in their thousands to endorse the aspiration of Elder Raphael Isobara as the sole candidate for the Chairmanship position ahead December 2, council elections, stakeholders in the area led by Sir M. A. Afanghide, have lend credence to the support by unanimously endorsing Isobara for the said position.

The position taken by youth and stakeholders in the area which has the present Minority Leader of the Nigeria Senate and former governor of AKS, Senator Godswill Akpabio, necessitated all former aspirants for the chairmanship position to step down and submit to the People’s choice, Raphael Isobara.

The overwhelming support provided Isobara by the entire people of Essien Udim both at home and in Diaspora, and the subsequent submission by all former aspirants, pundits believe has positioned Essien Udim people as the most organized and focused in the state going into the council elections.

It is believe that whosoever is chosen by the people to represent in a leadership position in Essien Udim, will provide security and welfare to the people, dividends of democracy, unite all aggrieved persons (if any), consolidate on the quality infrastructures left behind by past administrators and add values to the lives of the people. Of course, in Elder Raphael Isobara, the people of Essien Udim have discovered these sterling qualities.

The Chairmanship aspirants who stepped down and collapsed their structures for Isobara were:

Former Transition Committee Chairman of Essien Udim, Mr. Christiantus Udoh, Hon. Uduak Etim Udom, Hon. Etim Udokaebe and Hon. Bassey Bassey.

Some of the stakeholders who witnessed the historic moment were: Chief M.A. Afanghide (Elder statesman), Hon. Emmanuel Sunday Akpan (Member, House of Representative), Sir Emem Akpabio, Ibanga Akpabio (Vice Chairman, PDP AKS), Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen (Member, representing Essien Udim State Constituency in AKHA), Barr. Paulinus Idio (Transition Committee Chairman, Essien Udim) and several others.

Meanwhile, the Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen, the Member Representing the good people of Essien Udim in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has received enormous goodwill support from his people following his superlative performance in the House and the contributions of the 6th Assembly by way of effective legislation for the smooth running of government in the state.

Ntuen has been asked by his people to return to the House for another four years, putting all speculations about his future in the House come 2019 to rest.

It will be recalled that recently in Ukana, Essien Udim LGA, Youth who turned out in large number led by Barr. Prince Akpabio and Anthony Luke (Aluko), passed a motion which was duly seconded for the adoption and endorsement of Gov. Udom Emmanuel for 2019 re-election, Senator Godswill Akpabio for a second term in office and Hon. Nse Ntuen for another term in the AKHA.
