As the 2019 General elections beckon, aspirants are warming up to contest various elective positions while those in office are either getting ready for re-election into their offices or even upgrade as for those that hasn't gotten to the peak.

There have been jumping around in the political parties, aspirants sourcing for acceptable political platforms regardless of how people will perceive their inconsistencies and regardless of party ideologies.

Consistent action create consistent results because such action must have undergone timely authenticity tests.

If Bruce Springsteen educated our creative mindsets about bringing together followers "Getting an audience is hard. Sustaining an audience is hard. It demands a consistency of thought, of purpose, and of action over a long period of time" the fat question is; what are the reasons and what consistent action has power drunks and political prostitutes taken to deserve our audience and support?

Amongst many others, I will sight few instances.

First, President Muhammadu Buhari contested under the platform of ANPP in 2003 and 2007 respectively and angrily left to CPC a party he co-founded in 2010 where he contested again for the seat of President in 2011. In 2015, he also left CPC to APC and became the President of FRN.

Secondly, is the present Sokoto State Governor, Barr. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

He became a member of the House of Representatives in 2003 under the platform of the defunct ANPP defected to DPP, returned to ANPP from where he joined the PDP in 2007, later got re-elected in 2011 and became Speaker of the House of Representative under the platform of the PDP, he decamped in a dramatic manner to the APC that resulted in overheating of the polity, from APC he's back again to the PDP.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar became Vice President under the PDP 1999, defected from PDP to AC in 2006 to 2009, left AC for PDP in 2009 to 2013, left PDP to APC from 2013 to 2017 and again defects from APC to PDP in 2018.

This predilection for Buhari, Tambuwal, Atiku and many others for mercurial political lifestyle may be wrongly attributed to BEING SMART but it decidedly does not portray them as principled and consistent persons who should be trusted because trust is built on the foundation of consistency.

Another giant question that bored the mind is; what are the motivations that endeared Nigerians to people of inconsistent characters?

As the 2019 elections beckon, the social media have been awash with beautifully designed campaign materials as if there is a national beauty pageant.

According to Toyosi Akerele Ogunsiji, founder of Rise Networks, in one of her responses to Prof. Patrick Utomi said "there are two categories of Nigerian youths"

First is "the educated, empowered and privileged" these class are in their minorities. Those that belonged to this class knows what to do but population speaks against them.

Secondly, is "the poor, deprived and angry" young Nigerians who formed the major population of electorates and they are the tools in the hands of inconsistent characters so called leaders, the question is; what can we do to improve on the population of the first class mentioned above?

The hand of the clock is moving very fast and we must decide by comparing between what we stand to achieve with consistency and inconsistency.

God bless Nigeria.
